The impoundment was originally built in the 1980’s, and has had prominent success. Located just fourteen miles north of the Lake Marion headwaters, The Refuge is in a prime waterfowl region. The Refuge has 4 miles of frontage on the Wateree River. There are currently no conservation easements on the property. Structures include:
